SHAWS GIFT CARDS:
The time has come where there is a need for the distribution of the gift cards that were donated by Shaws. The cards will be given out in three groups. The first group will be given out immediately to those who received 4 weeks severance. The second group will be give out the 2nd week in March to those who had 8 weeks severance. The third group will be given out the 2nd week in April to those who had 12 weeks of severance. Come by the Hall/WAC and get your cards! If you wish to donate your card to another in need, please let us know.
Free Computers! For those of you who missed picking up your free Comptuer on the 21st, they will be available to pick up at the WAC during regular business hours. If you have any questions, call the WAC at 636-6046.
Welding Assessment: There will be a welding assessment testing at White Mountains Community College (NHCTC) in Berlin during the first weekend of March. Testing is held on March 1 and 2 to determine what you have for welding skills. The assessment is free to anyone who is unemployed or is a displaced worker. The college will be offering three welding courses: Basic Welding, Intermediate and Pipe Welding. These classes will start at the end of March. There will be more information to follow. If you are interested in taking the assessment, contact Lorrie Carter at 752-1113 or 800-445-4525 to set up a time on either date.
If you are a displaced worker from Wausau, and you do not have any welding skills but you would like to learn to weld, come to the WAC and meet with the counselors. We may be able to pay for your welding training to secure employment!
2nd Annual North Country Trade Show. Saturday March 22, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the White Mountain Community College, 2020 Riverside Drive, Berlin, N.H. Valley Ventures is a MicroCredit-NH business Group based in Berlin which has oarganized this event that showcases the products and services of small busienssess in the region. December 4 and 5: Representatives from Prudential and M&I Trust will be in Conference Room A&B. The Trade Adjustment Assistance program (referred to as the TAA) will be reviewed. Visit the News page to read about the U.S. Department of Labor's approval of TAA benefits for Wausau workers.

January 18, 2008: Career & Resource Fair for Job Seekers and Veterans form 10 am - 2 pm at the Groveton High School Gymnasium! Come meet Representatives from the Berlin and Littleton NH Works Centers as well as employers from all around the area. Get ideas on where to develop your On the Job Training opportunity...get information regarding the construction work on the Federal Prison... Veterans Representatives will be on site to answer any questions and provide assistance for you! Remember to bring copies of your resume and a notebook to write down job and contact information!
January 21, 28, February 4, 11, & 18: The Women's Rural Entrepeneurial Network (WREN) will be holding a " Core Four" business planning course, 4:00 -8:00 p.m. at Emerson's Outfitters. This is a business management course which covers marketing, financial management, and operations planning. If you want to build a house, you need a blueprint; if you want to build a business , you need a plan. This is it! This class normally costs $300 (including materials) but it is being offered FREE under a grant from the North Country Council and WREN. To register, email nina@wrencommunity.org.
